Join us on Tuesday, April 29th, at 5:30 PM for a powerful hour of conversation over drinks and delicious food!Â
Once nearly extinguished outside the Chassidic world, a movement of young Jews seeking to preserve and connect with this piece of their history is reclaiming Yiddish. At the forefront of this effort in Los Angeles is Rabbi Zach Golden, co-founder of Der Nister Downtown Jewish Center. Together with our friends at Neshama, we are thrilled to welcome Rabbi Golden to our first-ever Food for Thought Event: Yiddish Can Heal Us. Pull up a comfy seat, grab a glass of wine or a mocktail, snack on appetizers from our kosher kitchen, and join the conversation with our special guest, moderated by Rabbi Yonah Bookstein.
Tickets are $35 per person (+ tax & gratuity) and include appetizers and a drink of choice. Reservations can be made in advance via Resy by clicking the link below. We look forward to seeing you there!
Reserve your table via RESY!
About Rabbi Golden: A native of Long Beach, CA, Rabbi Zach Golden began learning Yiddish in his senior year of high school from Cantor David Kane (z’’l), a Holocaust survivor from Poland. He graduated from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, and was ordained at the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies at American Jewish University in Los Angeles. Since ordination, he worked for the Forverts (the Forward), the last secular Yiddish news organization in the United States for three years writing in both English and Yiddish, and has transitioned into tutoring and teaching Yiddish and Hebrew. At the same time, he co-founded Der Nister Downtown Jewish Center in Downtown LA, a shul located in a Jewish bookstore, dedicated to supporting both religious and cultural life.
